The moment everyone has been waiting for since I announced I had big news!!
Since we are stuck in Georgia for the next three months and unable to leave to do ministry, AIM has been working to find a way to fix this.
And thanks be to God, they have! According to the laws of Georgia state, we technically fall under the category of a summer camp and are only allowed to leave for ‘camp related reasons’. So, they had the brilliant idea of classifying a mission trip to Louisiana as a camp related reason!
We’re going to Lake Charles to help with disaster relief considering the hurricanes we’ve just gotten in that area. We’ll be working with Samaritan’s Purse to rebuild the community, hand out food and water, bless people, and do whatever else they need us to do as well as whatever God calls us to do while we’re there.
I am SUPER excited to be going on this mini-missions trip, especially to Louisiana! (My father and I were going to road trip to Georgia, and Louisiana was going to be on the way, but it didn’t end up happening.) It will take place in the week of October 24-31st, and we’re road tripping the entire way so we can stop and get candy for a Halloween celebration on the way back. 😉
Honestly, praise God for this kind of opportunity. Even though we don’t get to leave for Romania until January, it’s so cool that God has arranged this for us to show His glory to people in Louisiana. America is just as broken as the rest of the world, and I’m grateful to be able to minister to people here.
The hike is tomorrow! Please be praying for me. I will update you all tomorrow night on how it goes.
Thank you!
Until then,
Sophia
