Hello everyone! After this short little section I’ve pasted my support letter for you all to read. It gives an explanation of what I’m doing and why, as well as what my trip is going to look like since the development of COVID-19 in the world.

For more information about the World Race, you can click on the left hand links “World Race Home” and “What is the World Race?

To learn more about me, I suggest clicking the “About Me” link right underneath the other two!

Dear friends and family,

I have some exciting news to share with you! The Lord has been moving mountains in my life and I want all of you to hear about it! Starting in September, I will be heading to Georgia for a semester of missionary and discipleship training until January, at which point I’ll be heading overseas to live out the training I have been given! I’m so excited that the Lord has chosen me to carry His name out into the nations!

I will be doing this through an organization called Adventures in Missions, specifically the World Race: Gap Year program. It’s an interdenominational nonprofit missions organization that focuses on discipleship, prayer, and the relationship between God and his people. Established in 1989, it has brought over 100,000 people to the mission field. I am so excited that the Lord has chosen me to do his work on the Earth with this organization!

Originally, I was going to head to three different countries over the span of nine months, but because of COVID-19 taking its toll on the world, heading out in January of 2021 is the next plan of action. I was going to go to Romania, India, and Costa Rica from September to May, but the countries we’ll be going to in January haven’t yet been decided.

The World Race trains us to be the hands and feet of Jesus, to serve those who Christ puts in front of us. We will be church planting, taking care of children, construction, evangelism outreach, teaching English, relationship building, and praying for the sick, as well as doing whatever else the Lord puts on our hearts for that day. I will continue to learn my identity as a Daughter of God and how to walk in authority by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Ever since I was a young girl I have wanted to see the world and travel. I wanted to experience what the Lord has made, and this is my opportunity to do that alongside Him as well as other believers who share the same heart as me. I’m most excited to share the good news with others in the world! I want to spread the love and good news of Jesus everywhere I go, whether it be in Colorado or in the most remote parts of the Amazon Rainforest. I am honored that the Lord has chosen me to be his hands and feet among the people of the world and I could not be more excited to share about this journey with you!

However, I cannot do this without the support system and prayers from people at home. The total cost of this trip is $15,800, which will cover the cost of all transportation, food, housing, insurance and other miscellaneous costs. I need to have the whole amount by January 15, 2021, but my first deadline is $5,000 by August 15. I have currently been given $1,450! I know all those numbers might look scary! But I also know that the Lord is faithful and I trust in him. Currently, I am looking specifically for 15 partners to donate $50/month for the next 9 months.

The biggest thing I need is prayer!! That is the best way you can support me in my journey. Pray that I walk with the Lord through this entire journey and that I learn everything He has to teach me in this season of my life. I also prayerfully ask you to consider donating to this calling the Lord has very deliberately put on my life.

If God leads you to donate toward my trip, you can donate online by going to sophiaporter.theworldrace.org.

For more ways of donating, or if you’d just like to get in contact with me, here’s all my information:

I would love to have a follow-up conversation in a few weeks for further questions whether it be over coffee or the phone. Thank you for covering me in prayer and for your continued support in my journey!!

In Him,

Sophia Porter

I hope that gives you a little more insight to what this season of my life looks like!

Until the next post,

Sophia
